Environmental Problems Research and Application Center known as MÜÇEMER, affiliated with the Mugla Sıtkı Kocman University Rectorship was established in order to perform the interdisciplinary studies related to environmental problems and to speed up environmental problems studies. Based on the legal regulations, MÜÇEMER’s establishment was published in the Turkish Rupublic Official Gazette dated January 23, 2001 and No. 24296. One of the center's work area and tasks in various fields related to environmental problems is to do scientific and application-oriented research, to develop techniques for the solution of problems in the public and private sector projects or to have those projects get prepared, to prepare report for environmental issues, to provide advisory services to technology transfer and technical consulting services for the preparation of feasibility reports. In order to serve this purpose, taking into consideration the needs in the region, in order to make the analysis of water and wastewater within the MÜÇEMER '' Water Analysis Laboratory'' was founded in 2012. Water Analysis Laboratory aims to increase the provision and performance of tests in-house laboratory services and the reliability of the implementation of internationally recognized test methods.
For this purpose, specified in the Ministry of Environment and Forestry’s ‘’Environmental Measurement and Analysis Laboratory Qualification Directive’’’s article no 5(c) which is published in Official Gazette dated 09.05.2008 and No. 26 988; '' explains that Laboratories of TS EN ISO / IEC 17025 " Test General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories" ‘s standard must ensure the framework conditions related to labor conditation. According to the testimony of the laboratory methods used in the experiment in relation to water, wastewater and sea water parameters for total of 37 test methods were applied to the Turkish Accreditation Agency (TÜRKAK ) in 2012. While TÜRKAK audit controls is still going on, 2 years pre-qualification certificate was given to the MÜÇEMER’ Water Analysis Laboratory for the Environmental Measurement and Analysis by the Ministry of Environment and Urban Development. Laboratory analyzes conducted on-site as well as the addition of water, wastewater and sea water sampling within the framework of TS EN ISO standard methods are also available.
